The Band

The 1900s are a seven piece psychedelic pop group from Chicago. The band is a combination of some very old friendships (like riding the school bus together - style) and some very new ones. This proved to be a potent experiment, resulting in steamy relationships, Fleetwood Mac style breakups, and most importantly, their much loved Plume Delivery e.p., which was recorded before the band ever played a live show. Coincidentally, it was at their very first performance that a wide-eyed Parasol invited the 1900s to come onboard, which they have done and continue to do to this very date.

With only those six songs under their belt, The 1900s walked into a whirlwind, instantly becoming one of the most talked about bands in Chicago, garnering enough printed praise to make them blush and playing sold-out show after sold-out show in their hometown. Their rapidly growing presence also spread outside of the Windy City, leading to touring performances with Midlake and Iron & Wine among others, as well as highly touted performances at SXSW (a blown away Spin reporter named them 'Artist of the Day' the morning after their official performance) and an invitation to perform at this year's Lollapalooza.

Members

Edward has been making music since the 8th grade. His past projects include The Rom Sea, MOP, Noontide Friends, Forty Piece Choir and Plane. He is currently working on a solo album and composing music for film and TV.

Caroline Donovan started singing as a wee tot. She continued performing in musical theatre and other various freak shows throughout her wonder years. She’s been moonlighting with The 1900s for two and a half years, but still participates in the daily grind as a rock’n’roll nurse. She guarantees you’ll have a fever after a 1900s show- but has a cold beer in her first aid kit with your name on it.

Mike was brought up sniffing glue and fighting for scraps in the back alleys of Chicago.  Don't get too close on stage - he bites.

Andra Kulans, internationally known to stunned onlookers as The Pimp of the Twah, is likely to woo you into a pile of dough.  And while she is having tea with Sufjan, you are mopping her floors with your face.

Tim likes funny smells, wine, hot pavement, sudden movements and steamy jungles. Banging things since '77, moved to drums in '89.

Jeanine O'Toole is a show-off. In her home town Chicago, she reigns as a floor hockey champion and notable breakdancer. When the lighting is right, she enjoys beards and the company of the men who wear them."

Charlie comes from a state very much like Illinois. He enjoys ice cream in the summer, and seasonal fruit throughout the year, but he will rarely eat cake. He's hoping to one day start a whiffle-ball league to finally showcase his ability to "keep his eye on the ball." He doesn't drive a muscle car, but he'd certainly like to. Years ago he met Walter Payton and David Hasselhoff on the same day.
